Shop + Production Team Member

Starting Pay: $22.17–$30/hour depending on experience and skills

Acme Bread Berkeley is hiring one full-time team member for a position that combines customer interaction with hands-on bakery/kitchen and production work.

We are open to considering two different types of candidates

• A motivated person interested in learning production work in a fast-paced bakery environment

• A highly experienced kitchen professional with strong prep, restaurant, baking, or production experience who may eventually grow into product development and menu development responsibilities

Ideal candidates enjoy working with great food, moving quickly, staying organized, and being part of a strong, communicative team.

Production work may include

• Biscuit production

• Pizza prep & pizza making

• Preparing ingredients for hummus rolls and other savory items

• Ingredient prep and organization

• Ordering and inventory support

• Counter sales and customer interaction

For highly experienced candidates, there may be opportunity after the probationary period to grow into:

• Product development

• Menu development

• Expanded ordering and organizational responsibilities

Acme Berkeley will be moving into a brand-new location across the street from our original shop within the next few months. We will also be expanding our menu to include coffee service and additional food-to-go offerings, making this an exciting opportunity to grow with our team during a major transition and expansion.

Pay & Benefits

• $22.17/hour starting range for candidates newer to production work

• Up to $30/hour depending on experience, leadership capacity, and professional kitchen background

• Full healthcare and dental benefits after the probationary period

• Two weeks paid vacation annually

Schedule

• Full-time: 5 shifts per week

• Must be available to work one or both weekend days

• Shift times vary, though 7:00 AM–3:00 PM is the most common schedule

Requirements

• Must LIKE and EAT bread

• Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where many things happen at once

• Must be dependable, prompt, honest, energetic, and communicative

• Must be comfortable with bending, twisting, lifting, and standing for long periods

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs

• Must work well with both coworkers and customers

• A good sense of humor is a huge plus

• Spanish or other language skills are highly valued

• Professional kitchen, bakery, or prep experience is strongly preferred for higher pay tiers

• Experience is valued, but we are also willing to train the right person

• Ability to commit to at least one year with the company preferred

• Holiday availability required, including the days leading up to Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve
