Dead Letter is a new restaurant concept from the girl & the fig, located on the Sonoma Square. We are currently hiring experienced kitchen staff (Chefs, Sous Chefs, Cooks, and Dishwashers) to join our opening team.

Dead Letter will bring a fresh perspective to our group’s approach to food, hospitality, and dining experiences. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a new concept from the ground up—helping to shape kitchen culture, execution, and standards from day one.

About the Role

We are seeking culinary professionals at both the Chef and Sous Chef level who are passionate about high-quality ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and collaborative kitchen environments. These roles will work closely with leadership to execute menus, support kitchen operations, and contribute to a strong and positive team culture.

In addition to Chef and Sous Chef positions, we are also hiring Cooks and Dishwashers to support the kitchen team. These roles are essential to daily operations and offer the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment focused on quality, consistency, and teamwork. Ideal candidates take pride in their work, are dependable, and are interested in contributing to a well-organized and supportive kitchen.

Pay & Schedule Dishwashers: $20.00 per hour expected starting pay rate Cooks: $22.00 to $32.00 per hour expected starting range Sous Chef: $70k to $85k expected annual starting range Chef: $80k to $95k expected annual starting range Compensation based on experience and qualifications Full-time positions available What You’ll Be Doing

Responsibilities will vary based on position, but may include: Preparing and executing menu items with consistency and attention to detail Supporting daily kitchen operations, including prep, service, and organization Assisting with ordering, inventory, and cost control practices Maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety standards Collaborating with kitchen leadership and front-of-house teams Contributing to staff training, coaching, and development Supporting a positive, respectful, and efficient work environment Required Experience & Skills Chefs & Sous Chefs: Food Safety Manager Certification (required or ability to obtain) Cooks & Dishwashers: California Food Handler Certification (required or ability to obtain) Previous experience in a professional kitchen Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and kitchen operations Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Strong communication and teamwork skills Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and tools Benefits
