Bar Manager

The Harlequin is a stylish 1920s-inspired cocktail bar, restaurant, and lounge in San Francisco’s Yerba Buena / SoMa area, just steps from the Moscone Center and Union Square. We are a New American comfort Restaurant and Bar with a focus on social atmosphere, delicious food and inventive cocktails. We are also a busy event venue hosting dozens of events each month during the busy convention season The Bar Manager is ultimately responsible for all bar operations. You should be able to work independently, effectively communicate managerial objectives, effectively complete detail-oriented administrative tasks, and manage a team in a fair manner. Success in this position requires speedy completion of administrative duties and strong attention to detail.

• The Bar Manager will report directly to the Operations Director.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and refresh our cocktail program on a regular basis.
• Oversee all bar operations
• Maintain inventory controls
• Work with the director of operations on bar schedules
• Ensure bar is well-stocked and clean
• Track customer behavior and sales
• Maintain budget and monitor beverage costs
• Appropriately delegate tasks to staff
• Work with suppliers and reps and manage the ordering of bar related inventory
• Oversee bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks
• Hire, train, promote, and, when necessary, discipline staff

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of bartending and/or bar manager experience
• Strong Craft cocktail knowledge
• Record of critical thinking skills
• Strong interpersonal skills

• Attention to detail and good organizational skills
• Customer service focus
• Knowledge of food, beverage, and hospitality industries
• Calm under pressure
