KOPI Bar at the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive is seeking a Barista who understands that coffee is more than a beverage, it is hospitality, storytelling, culture, and connection. Nestled inside one of the world’s leading contemporary art museums and film institutions, KOPI Bar is where Indonesian coffee culture, thoughtful food, art, cinema, and community meet.

We are looking for someone who moves with warmth, curiosity, precision, and pride. Someone who understands that every drink served is part of a larger experience, welcoming museum guests, artists, filmmakers, students, academics, travelers, and locals into a space that feels alive, inspiring, and deeply human.

Position: Barista

Location: KOPI Bar inside the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive

Reports to: Management Team / Chef Nora Haron

What You’ll Do

Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, teas, and specialty Indonesian-inspired drinks with consistency and care

Create meaningful guest experiences through genuine hospitality and engaging conversation

Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, organization, and efficiency in a fast-paced café environment

Educate guests on Indonesian coffee culture, flavors, brewing methods, and featured offerings

Support pastry and light food service as needed

Work collaboratively with a small, passionate team dedicated to excellence

Contribute to the atmosphere and energy of a café operating inside a globally respected museum environment

Who You Are

Passionate about coffee, hospitality, food, art, and culture

Calm under pressure and detail-oriented

Naturally warm, welcoming, and emotionally intelligent

Excited by the idea of working in a creative, intellectually stimulating environment

Able to multitask while maintaining grace and professionalism

Interested in learning and growing within an evolving hospitality concept

Prior café or specialty coffee experience preferred, but attitude and willingness to learn matter most
