Overview
The Shift Leader serves as the backbone of daily restaurant operations at Gogobop. Reporting to the Leader of the House, the Shift Leader is responsible for running smooth, high-energy shifts that reflect Gogobop's S.E.R.V.E. values from open to close.
This role is designed for individuals who are ready to step into leadership, take ownership of their shift, and help build a culture of excellence. The ideal candidate will:

Expectations
Run the Shift
- Open and close the restaurant according to Gogobop's standard operating procedures
- Manage shift flow across FOH and BOH to ensure speed and consistency
- Assign positions and responsibilities to crew members at the start of each shift
- Coordinate and manage crew breaks in compliance with California labor laws
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe restaurant environment throughout the shift
Own the Numbers
- Count and reconcile cash drawers accurately at the start and end of each shift
- Record and report waste according to Gogobop's waste tracking procedures
- Monitor and communicate any inventory needs or shortages to the Leader of the House
Lead the Team
- Support, motivate, and hold crew members accountable during the shift
- Provide real-time coaching and feedback to ensure quality and consistency
- Address performance issues in the moment and escalate to the Leader of the House as needed
Serve the Guest
- Handle customer complaints and concerns with professionalism, urgency, and empathy
- Ensure every guest receives a fast, high-quality experience that reflects Gogobop's standards
- Model exceptional service behavior for the team at all times
Champion the Culture
- Model and reinforce Gogobop's S.E.R.V.E. values on every shift
- Ensure team energy, attitude, and execution remain consistent across all dayparts
- Recognize great performance and address issues directly and respectfully
Ensure Compliance & Responsibility
- Ensure crew members receive proper meal and rest breaks in accordance with California law
- Monitor and maintain accurate timekeeping throughout the shift
- Uphold food safety and workplace safety standards at all times
- Document and report any incidents or issues to the Leader of the House
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Some restaurant experience preferred
- Ability to lead, motivate, and hold a team accountable in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to give clear direction and feedback
- Basic math skills and comfort handling cash transactions
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to learn and uphold food safety and sanitation standards
- Reliable transportation to and from the restaurant
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
