Leland Eating and Drinking House is seeking talented junior sous chefs to join our team. This position is a unique opportunity for line chefs looking to take the next step in their careers. You want to hone your skills and teach others by leading by example. We're looking for someone who enjoys working with teams, is goal-oriented, open to learning new skills, brings compassion to the team, has a good understanding of handmade healthy cuisine, and loves to feed people.
Located in Brooklyn’s Prospect Heights neighborhood, Leland Eating and Drinking House promotes sustainable handmade cuisine while supporting local farms, creating natural and healthy food without forgoing flavor. The culinary team is responsible for the daily bread program, handmade pasta, in-house fermentations, fish butchery and nose-to-tail animal butchery. We are looking for someone eager to be a teammate amongst professionals, help create a positive culture and become a student who learns alongside the team. If you are a chef with a big ego, are too good to wash dishes or have issues with controlling your temper, please do not apply.

- Motivated, hard-working, enthusiastic, team player
- Strong knowledge and interest in food and beverage
- Passion to reduce waste, recycling and composting
- Availability to work days, nights, and weekends
- NYC Food Protection Certificate Card Holder
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Sense of humor and positive attitude
- Knowledge of health, safety and sanitation guidelines of NYDOH and maintain a letter A grade
