Tarra & Sura, a Thai fine dining restaurant and cocktail lounge opening soon in River North, is seeking to add a skilled General Manager to our opening team. The restaurant will feature a luxurious 100 seat dining room on the ground floor, and a swanky 60 seat cocktail lounge hidden below serving high-touch, experimental cocktails and thoughtful small bites.

Tarra and Sura currently seeking a passionate Sous Chef to join our talented team. The dining floor is named Tarra, the Thai word meaning nourishing and purifying water. The cocktail lounge is Sura, a Thai word meaning both courage and the pouring of drinks. As Line Cook, you will collaborate with Executive Chef Namo Chowcharoen and Sous Chef, having honed his culinary expertise at Dusit Thani College and has been the Executive Chef at Franklin Room for the last four years to open this dual-concept project balancing excellent hospitality with the concept of flowing water.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
- Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef’s instructions
- Clean up station and take care of leftover food
- Stock inventory appropriately
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Requirements
- 2-3 years cooking experience
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
- Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
- Ability to work well in a team
- Very good communication skills
- Available full time
- Available to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Available to work long hours
- Excellent physical condition and stamina
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Illinois Food Handlers Certificate
