Serano’s Italian is a cozy, popular casual Italian restaurant with a strong focus on gluten - free, seasonal ingredients, local produce, and authentic Italian flavors. We are passionate about quality food, warm hospitality, and building a strong, team-driven culture.

We are currently seeking a strong, hands-on lead line cook to help lead and grow our back-of-house operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate culinary professional to work directly alongside the restaurant management to elevate our menu, improve kitchen systems, and help shape the next phase of growth for the restaurant.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small but high-performing kitchen environment and brings both leadership and creativity grounded in strong traditional Italian cooking techniques.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily kitchen operations and BOH execution

Cook and manage pasta, pizza, sauces, salads, etc.

Lead line checks, prep organization, and service execution

Help hire, train and mentor kitchen staff

Maintain consistency, cleanliness, food quality, and speed of service

Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are upheld at all times

Manage prep systems, inventory and ordering

Collaborate with ownership to improve kitchen systems and efficiencies

Contribute new menu ideas

Help refine and upgrade existing menu items

Maintain a positive, accountable, and team-oriented kitchen culture

Qualifications

Strong line cook experience

Passion for Italian cuisine, pasta, and seasonal cooking

Strong leadership and communication skills

Experience managing and developing kitchen teams

Ability to remain calm and organized under pressure

High-volume restaurant experience preferred

Strong understanding of food cost, labor management, and inventory

NYC Food Protection Certification preferred ( or willing to obtain one)
