Part-Time Morning Barista — Thai Aperitivo Café in West Village

Sunrisét Café & Víno is NYC's first Thai Aperitivo Café, located at 112 Greenwich Avenue in the West Village. We serve specialty espresso, natural wines, and Thai-inspired bites including our signature edible insect program. We are hiring a part-time morning barista to be the face of our café every day.

This is a craft-forward role for a serious barista who wants to own the morning experience at a small, women-owned café with a strong point of view.

The Role

You'll open the café, run the bar through the morning rush, and hand off to the afternoon shift mid-day. You'll know our regulars by name, build our coffee program with us, and represent Sunrisét to every guest who walks through the door.

Schedule

Monday: 6:45am – 2:45pm

Tuesday: 6:45am – 2:45pm

Wednesday: 6:45am – 2:45pm

Thursday: 6:45am – 2:45pm

Friday: 6:45am – 2:45pm

Saturday: 8:15am – 3:15pm

Sunday: 8:15am – 3:15pm

Total: 40 hours/week

PAY

$16/hour during 3-week training period

$17/hour after training + tips

Higher base rate available for experienced baristas

Estimated total compensation: $46,000–52,000/year

⚠️ Important — Edible Insect Menu

Our menu features real edible insects — crickets, silkworm, and others — served as part of our Thai aperitivo experience. This is a core and celebrated part of what we do.

You MUST be comfortable with

Talking about insects on the menu with confidence and curiosity

Pointing morning guests toward our evening bug program with enthusiasm

Turning nervous or curious guests into excited ones

If insects make you uncomfortable, this role isn't the right fit — we respect that, but we need a teammate who can represent this part of our menu proudly.

What You'll Do

Open the café, set up the espresso bar, get the day started

Pull espresso shots, build lattes, brew Thai iced coffee and tea

Serve pastries from our partner bakery (The Native Bread and Pastry) and pre-wrapped croissant sandwiches

Welcome and serve guests with warmth and confidence

Handle POS transactions (Otter)

Keep the bar clean, organized, and beautiful

Hand off cleanly to the afternoon shift mid-day

Who We're Looking For

At least 1 year of barista experience preferred (specialty coffee a plus)

Reliable, on time, calm under a morning rush

Latte art skills or willingness to learn

Comfortable serving and explaining edible insects to guests

Warm, curious, and present with regulars

Interest in Thai culture, natural wine, or wellness is a big plus

NYC Food Handler card a plus (we'll help you get one)
