Step-On Tour Guide Needed (Part Time on Tuesdays)

Peak Tours and Transit is seeking an engaging Step-On Tour Guide to give commentary on a motorcoach in Stevenson, Washington, to cruise guests. This is a contract position ideal for experienced guides, storytellers, performers, or educators who enjoy working with visitors from around the world.

About the Role

As a step-on guide, you will join a group of cruise passengers on board a motorcoach (large bus) and provide live narration, storytelling, and guest engagement throughout the tour. YOU WILL NOT BE THE DRIVER. The motorcoach leaves from the dock and makes stops at Columbia Gorge Museum, Skamania Lodge, and sometimes Bonneville Dam, so have knowledge of those places, as well as the places in between. YOU DO NOT LEAVE THE BUS, and the guests are self-guided at the stops.

Training and scripts are provided, though we encourage guides to talk about things they are knowledgeable and passionate about, rather than reading scripts. They are just for reference!

Responsibilities

>>Deliver engaging, accurate, and well-paced narration throughout the tour

>>Coordinate with driver and adhere to tour timing

>>Answer guest questions and adapt to group interests

>>Represent Peak Tours and Transit with professionalism

Qualifications

>>Prior tour guiding, teaching, performing, or public speaking experience preferred

S>>trong storytelling ability and stage presence

>>Knowledge of (or willingness to learn) Columbia River Gorge history, geology, and culture

>>Punctual, reliable, and organized

>>Comfortable working with diverse groups

>>Ability to speak clearly, and engage for extended periods

Schedule and Compensation

The tour takes place every Tuesday, from 1:45 PM to 4:30 PM and pays $70.00 per shift. Tips are common. There will probably be opportunities for additional shifts, if interested.

This is a contracted position (not employment), so you will receive a 1099 at the end of the year. Peak does not withhold taxes!
